Application, quotation and contract

  • Your application is reviewed for whether it falls within our scope and for competent personnel, suitable equipment and impartiality.
  • A written quotation is prepared for an accepted request; the person who prepares the quotation cannot be the decision-maker for that file.
  • No assessment begins before the contract is signed. Matters such as the decision rule and destructive testing are agreed with you before the contract.
  • An application is rejected, with reasons given, if it is outside our scope, if competent personnel or equipment are not available, if there is an unacceptable risk to impartiality, or if an application for the same product has been made to another notified body.

Suspension, reduction of scope and withdrawal

DecisionGroundsResult
SuspensionNonconformity found during surveillance; failure to take corrective action within the specified period; breach of contractUse of the certificate is temporarily stopped; status is updated in certificate verification
Reduction of scopeRequirements not met for part of the scopeThe certificate is reissued
WithdrawalNonconformity not resolved during the suspension period; nonconformity affecting the safety of persons and property; improper use of the certificate; at the certificate holder's requestThe certificate is cancelled; it must be returned within 30 days

Decisions are notified in writing, stating the right of appeal, and are forwarded to the notifying authority. The current status of certificates can be verified on the certificate verification page.

Fee principles

  • Fees are independent of the assessment outcome. No fees are charged that depend on the conformity decision, the number of certificates or a favourable outcome.
  • Fees are applied on the same basis to all customers within the same scope.
  • Where an assessment is unsuccessful, fees are charged for the work actually performed. Re-testing, re-inspection and additional site visits are charged separately and are notified at the quotation stage.
  • Discounts may be based only on predefined objective criteria such as volume, multiple products or contract duration.
  • Non-payment does not affect the assessment outcome; the certificate may be withheld until the payment provided for in the contract has been made.

Complaints and appeals are handled impartially in accordance with P.08 Procedure for the Evaluation of Complaints and Appeals. For the process and the submission form, see the Complaints and Appeals page.
